FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (March 6, 2018) – For the ninth time since joining the Southeastern Conference, the Arkansas men’s basketball team placed three players on the postseason SEC teams as voted on by the league head coaches.
Senior guard Jaylen Barford earned first team All-SEC honors, senior guard Daryl Macon was named second team All-SEC and freshman forward Daniel Gafford was selected to the SEC All-Freshman team.
Just last week, Macon and Barford became the sixth and seventh players in program history to eclipse the 1,000 career points mark in just two years. Both guards surpassed the milestone on Arkansas’ Senior Night and have amassed 1,014 points to sit tied for 40th in school history on the all-time scoring list.
Barford proved to be one of the most prolific scores in the country as a senior, ranking third in the league in scoring average at 17.9 points per game. He recorded 12 games of 20-plus points and joins Macon as the only players in the league to rank in the top 10 in three-point field goal percentage (2nd), scoring average (3rd) and field goal percentage (6th).
Barford has turned into a sharpshooter from long range, hitting three-plus three-pointers 15 times this season after doing so just twice last year. He scored a career-high 28 points in two different games, both coming against SEC teams that finished in the top three of the league standings.

He became the first player in program history to earn the honor three times in a season and four times in a career. Macon has 17 games of 20-plus points in his career and joined Corliss Williamson as the only Razorbacks to record seven straight 20-point games since Arkansas joined the SEC. He currently leads the league in free throw percentage and three-point field goal percentage and is one of the most clutch shooters in the league, making 30-of-31 free throw attempts in the final minute and overtime of games this season.
A three-time SEC Freshman of the Week honoree, Daniel Gafford has been a force for Arkansas in the paint all season. He joined former Razorbacks and current #ProHogs Bobby Portis and Patrick Beverley as the only Razorbacks to be earn the weekly conference honor three times in a season. In SEC play this year, Gafford averaged 12.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest, finishing in double figures 13 times.
He currently ranks sixth in the country among freshmen in field goal percentage thanks to 68 dunks on the year, the most by any player at Arkansas during the Mike Anderson era. Gafford has more slams than six teams in the SEC and has matched his dunk total with 68 blocks on the other end of the court. The big man has recorded three-plus blocks in a game 12 times this season, including five or more in four different contests.
