NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment's Division of Environmental Quality announced on Monday evening that they have issued a "Harmful Algal Boom Advisory" for Lake Bennett in Faulkner County.
Due to this advisory, the public is advised to avoid any contact with the lake. Officials have confirmed having seen Cyanobacteria within the lake, and it was also supported through the preliminary testing that followed.
These harmful algal blooms can result in toxic substances being created which can then cause headaches, shortness of breath, weakness, muscle spasms, and even gastrointestinal issues.
