LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A full highway closure is set to take place tonight in Jacksonville as crews work to widen Highway 67/167 to six lanes, according to the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT).
ARDOT said that the construction is intended to widen the highway to six lanes between Main Street and Vandenberg Blvd in Jacksonville.
Additionally, crews will be able to perform pavement work in the northbound direction and drainage work for the southbound direction.
The closure will impact the North James Street (Exit 10A) off-ramp and on-ramps from 8 p.m. on Monday through 5 a.m. on Tuesday.
ARDOT officials said that traffic will exit at North James Street and travel onto the frontage road before returning to the highway at the next on-ramp to Highway 67/167.
Drivers should also know that in addition to the full closure on Monday, there will be overnight closures in place for the rest of the week along Highway 67/167 between Main Street and Vandenberg Blvd.
These lane closures will be in place nightly until Sunday morning on Nov. 24 -- each closure begins at 8 p.m. and lasts until 5 a.m. the following morning.
ARDOT officials will control traffic with message boards, construction barrels, and signage.
Crews advise drivers to remain cautious when traveling in the work zone and to remain observant of slower traffic speeds.
