Multi-vehicle accident shuts down section of Interstate 40 westbound for 2 hours

Traffic was at a standstill on Interstate 40 westbound for two hours Saturday as road crews worked to clean up a multi-vehicle accident.

ST. FRANCIS COUNTY, Ark. — A multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 westbound injured at least one person and had traffic at a standstill for two hours Saturday.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation said the accident happened around 1:30 p.m. near mile marker 245.5, north of Madison in St. Francis County.

Traffic is now slowly starting to move.
