LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — This summer has been an up-and-down rollercoaster, between multiple heat waves and nice "breaks" with highs in the 80s.
Our latest break is coming to an end, and we're tracking more heat and humidity over the coming days.
So far, a heat advisory has been issued for Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from about 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
What should I expect during this heat advisory?
During this time, heat indices between 105 and 110 are expected.
However, because this is a heat advisory, we are not issuing a Weather Impact Alert at this time but heat safety should still be top of mind.
Over the coming days, heat and humidity will continue to dominate the forecast, so more heat alerts are likely.
Make sure you are staying updated with all the latest from the THV11 Weather Impact Team.
Are risks of wildfires increased during this heat advisory?
The rising temperatures and lack of rain are also posing a threat for wildfire danger.
Currently, much of Arkansas is under a "moderate" wildfire risk, and Montgomery County has an active burn ban.

How do I stay safe during the heat advisory?
The best things to do during this time are to limit time spent outdoors, stay hydrated, and remember to wear light clothing when heading outside.
If you are someone who works outside, remember to take frequent breaks and drink more fluids than you normally would, and avoid any activities that could potentially spark a flame.
