LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Some peoples' worlds turned upside down Wednesday night as strong storms ripped through central Arkansas.
A Little Rock neighborhood at W. 6th Street and Thayer Street got hit hard.
"It’s a rough day in the neighborhood,” said Alex Lanis, a homeowner.
Kacie Strong said the storms created chaos.
"Before we knew it, we heard a big cracking noise,” she said.
A large tree snapped in half, falling onto Strong’s car.
“I was supposed to work this morning, but I’m clearly not going anywhere,” she said.

Wednesday, as she looked at her damaged car with shattered glass surrounding it, she crossed her fingers in hopes it isn’t totaled.
"The car's paid off, but I can't afford another payment," she said.
Across the street is where Alex Lanis has spent many days working.
"You know we've been working on this house, and so we had a ton of tools, but now my shed's gone and hundreds of tools were exposed last night," said Lanis.
The house is special to him because it’s a project he and his father took on a year ago.
The storm broke columns inside the house, and the strong wind shifted the home two feet to its left side.
"I've been working on this house for the last year. Me and my dad have spent hundreds of hours on it,” said Lanis. “It was nearly livable and then this happened. So, I don’t know now. I don’t even know where to start.”
Others living around them have damage, too. Numerous trees have uprooted, falling onto the streets, homes, and cars while debris is scattered across the roads.
But one thing is for sure, the storms aren't stronger than the bond the neighbors have made.
"I knew I had a bunch of cool neighbors over here, but you don't really know until something like this happens and they are there for you," said Lanis.
