Whether it's an ice storm, tornado, or triple-digit day, Sarah Fortner is giddy about forecasting in Arkansas. Sarah joined the THV11 weather team in May 2012 as weekend meteorologist. She's a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. If you don't see her tweeting, find the nearest body of water and look for her there. Sailing and fishing are a few of her favorite things, especially with her yellow lab, "Knox Doppler" by her side. Since living in Arkansas, duck hunting and fly fishing are some new hobbies on her list.

Sarah is active in our community through several organizations. The American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, and the American Heart Association are also fundraisers and events that are found in her schedule. She attends Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock.

Passionate about science education, Sarah loves to speak at school and civic organization meetings. Learning weather as a young child, the family farm in northeast Florida kept her aware of what was going on in the sky. She took that fascination to college. At Florida State University, Sarah received a bachelor's degree in Meteorology alongside minors in Physics, Mathematics, and Communication. At FSU, she pledged the Phi Mu Fraternity and found her first love--college football.

When she isn't covering Arkansas weather, you can catch "Science with Sarah." It's your opportunity to learn something new about science and weather in Arkansas. If you have any ideas or questions, send an email to sfortner@thv11.com. Don't forget to follow her on Twitter and Facebook for up-to-minute weather information 24-7.
