Arkansas man arrested, charged with December homicides

One man has now been arrested and charged in connection to the death of two men in a small Arkansas town.

ARKANSAS, USA — An Arkansas man has now been arrested and charged in connection to the death of two men that happened in December.

According to reports, on July 30, 2024, at about 7:30 p.m. troopers with Arkansas State Police stopped a vehicle to perform a traffic stop while at the intersection of Arkansas Highways 56 and 82 in Lake Village.

They were able to identify the passenger in the vehicle as 25-year-old Taiwan Collins of McGehee who had been wanted in connection to a double homicide investigation in Wilmar.

Collins was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder.

On the date of the incident (December 3, 2023) Drew County officers responded to a call at the old Wilmar School on North 5th Street just before 3:00 a.m.

Once they arrived at the scene they found two deceased men.

25-year-old Suquorey Pitts Jr. of Dumas was found dead in the front passenger seat of a car parked in the school's driveway, and 21-year-old Independence Young of McGehee was found lying on North 5th Street.

Reports state that both men were pronounced dead at the scene from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The bodies were then taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsies.

Collins is currently being held in the Drew County Detention Center.
