LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Over the past weekend, there were multiple incidents in Little Rock that resulted in 3 males being arrested.
In our initial reports, we were given little information regarding what happened in a shooting that happened just after midnight on Sunday near the 12300 block of Chenal Parkway in West Little Rock.
We were able to dig deeper into a probable cause letter from the Little Rock Police Department and are now able to provide a more clear understanding of what happened.
According to the report, Joshua Shorty Jr., a family member, and an unidentified person were riding in a vehicle when Shorty Jr. shot and killed the unidentified person riding in the back seat.
During the investigation, the family member was able to positively identify Shorty Jr. as the shooter to homicide detectives.
In a recorded statement, Shorty Jr. said he grabbed the gun and shot the person after hearing a round chambered.
Shorty Jr. was charged with 1st-degree murder and was transported to the Pulaski County Regional Jail.
The victim was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and positive identification.
A second homicide occurred just after 9:00 p.m. on Sunday night at 2 Torey Pines Drive.
As we took a deep dive into this incident, we were also able to uncover more details as to what happened.
According to the probable cause letter received from LRPD, a woman was in her vehicle when Daryl Jones, Tamarion Jones, and another boy approached her vehicle.
The boy tapped on the driver's side window with a gun and told her to get out of the vehicle.
She then reached for her own gun and raised her weapon as a gunfight began.
The woman later ran inside her apartment and called police.
In a statement, Daryl Jones said they were always stealing cars and robbing people, and added that he ran away when the gunfight started.
The boy suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to Arkansas Children's Hospital. He later died from to his injuries.
Both Daryl Jones and Tamarion Jones were each charged with one count of capital murder.
Per John Johnson, the Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, Tamarion Jones will be charged as an adult.
