MENA, Ark. — An Arkansas man has now been arrested and charged in connection to a deadly hit-and-run that happened last week.

According to reports, at about 9:30 p.m. on October 24, ASP troopers responded to the scene of an accident along State Highway 8 East near State Highway 375 and Lorelei Way.

Once they arrived at the scene they discovered that a 19-year-old male cyclist, identified as Levi Givens, had supposedly been traveling westbound in the center of the lane when he was struck by a vehicle.

The bicycle was then lodged under the vehicle and dragged about 60 to 90 feet before it was dislodged, and the victim died as a result of the accident.

During the investigation, agents were able to identify the driver of the vehicle by using evidence collected from the scene as well as surveillance footage from nearby cameras.

25-year-old Darius Sims was ultimately charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury or death.
