Mom of woman killed in Pine Bluff pushes for justice

Though her daughter's alleged killer is behind bars once again, one Arkansas mother continues pushing for justice to be served.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — The man accused of killing  33-year-old Racheal Crouch in Pine Bluff last year is now back behind bars.

On Monday, the Pine Bluff Police Department announced that 24-year-old Donovan Cuthbertson had been taken into custody after he was located in the Dollarway area of Pine Bluff.

This comes after Cuthbertson had been previously jailed and awaiting trial until a technicality let him out on his own.

The victim's mother, Elberta Crouch, explained how she is relieved to hear that he's locked up again.

She said this is the first year that she is experiencing her daughter's birthday alone after her daughter was killed last September. However, instead of being full of tears, she brings herself to find a sense of peace knowing that her daughter's accused killer has been found.

"My child turned 34 today so it was kind of really hard on me. I've been worrying, I've been stressing out hoping that he will be found because I want justice for my child," Crouch added.

According to the Pine Bluff Police Department, Cuthbertson had an active warrant for failing to appear for trial pertaining to Racheal Crouch's death and the shooting of a 30-year-old man in Pine Bluff.

Police explained how Cuthbertson was on the run since he was released by a judge on his own recognizance because prosecutors didn't formally file charges until November 28, 2023, which was more than 60 days after the arrest

However, Crouch said she can't understand why.

"I'm just aggravated and frustrated. He turned himself in on September 26. They had the rest of September, the whole month of October, and the first week of November. They didn't do the necessary paperwork to keep him in there," Crouch described.

Crouch said her daughter was the type of person to do anything for anyone and she didn't deserve what happened to her.

"She was a very good person. She was kind, loving, caring, loyal, and very good child well, an adult. I still call her my child because she's my oldest child," Crouch said.

Crouch said her final request is for this to be taken to trial and for her daughter to finally get some rest.

"I carry her every day around my neck with me and I hug and kiss it at night before I go to bed. I tell her how much I love her, and I told her I would make sure that she gets justice and that's what I'm intending to do," Crouch said.
