Planning underway for new Buc-ee's location in Benton

As city officials continue plans to establish the state's first Buc-ee's in Benton, a traffic flow plan is in the works near the gas station's proposed entrance.

BENTON, Ark. — Back in April, the Benton Planning Commission approved both a site and utilities plan for the first Buc-ee's to come to the Natural State.

Now, city officials are working to create a traffic flow plan near the proposed entrance of the new super-sized gas station and convenience store.

The city council agreed to install a traffic light at the intersection of Highway 229 and the future entrance of Buc-ee's, which will be known as Buc-ee's Boulevard.

The proposal puts the gas station between exits 114 and 116 in Benton. The map below, provided by the Arkansas Department of Transportation, shows a visual of the idea:

"I-30 at the main intersection and this will be the second one there that will direct traffic from both sides of the road to allow people to come in and go out," explained Benton Mayor Tom Farmer.

There is no word yet when the store expects to open.
