LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Summer has arrived here in Central Arkansas, and so have the rising temperatures.
As the temps continue to rise and heat indexes are expected to get to 112 degrees, some counties in the state have even issued excessive heat warnings.
With these extreme temps in our area, it's important to remember to drink plenty of water and to know the signs and symptoms of dehydration.
According to reports from the Mayo Clinic, men should drink about 3.7 liters of fluids per day and women should drink about 2.7 liters.
Symptoms of dehydration include:
- Having darker-colored urine
- Dizziness or headaches
- Fatigue
- Dry mouth, tongue, and cracked lips
- Extreme thirst
- Trouble concentrating or mental confusion
Due to the heat and hot temperatures forecasted for the next week, several cooling centers have opened to give people a cool place to be so they can beat the heat.
