Here's how you can help the victims of Arkansas grocery store shooting

Many people have been asking for ways to help the victims and families of the Mad Butcher grocery store shooting in Fordyce. Here's how you can help.

DALLAS COUNTY, Ark. — A mass shooting at the Mad Butcher grocery store in Fordyce, Arkansas has left a community in shambles after more than a dozen people were shot on Friday.

In total, there were 15 civilians shot, including two local police officers and the suspect who opened fire at the grocery store.

Four people were killed, and 11 others were wounded. Arkansas State Police Col. Mike Hagar also said the two police officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

In the midst of a tragedy, the strong-knit community of Fordyce has come together to remember and honor the lives that were lost: 23-year-old Callie Weems, 50-year-old Roy Sturgis, 62-year-old Shirley Taylor, and 81-year-old Ellen Shrum.

A candlelight vigil was held in honor of the victims on Sunday night and hundreds of people from the community were in attendance to pay their respects and mourn the loss of the victims.

Now, many people have been asking for ways that they can help the victims and their families.

Dallas County Sheriff Mike Knoedl announced on social media that he has opened up an account under his name at the Fordyce Bank and Trust. Donations can be made to that account that will be used to help the families of the victims and the Fordyce PD officer who was injured.

"I have been involved in several traumatic incidents in my career, but nothing comes close to what happened last Friday" Knoedl said. "This hits home because I personally knew so many of the innocent victims."

He explained that any donations received will be split evenly among the families of the victims.
