FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas pitcher Robyn Herron continued her stellar sophomore season with her first career SEC Pitcher of the Week honor, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Herron dominated the circle over the weekend, helping the No. 11 Razorbacks (30-11, 9-6 SEC) to a series victory over South Carolina (29-15, 5-10 SEC). The Tampa native finished 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 12 strikeouts, holding the Gamecocks to zero runs on seven hits across 12.1 innings pitched.
Additionally, she held opponents to a .163 batting average and allowed only one extra-base hit – a double in Friday's series opener.
In Arkansas's 3-0 shutout victory against South Carolina on Sunday, Herron tossed a complete game shutout, allowing only three hits while fanning six. She did not allow a hit until the fifth inning and, at one point, retired 12 consecutive batters.
Herron shut the door on the Gamecocks in Friday's series opener, recording 5.1 frames of scoreless ball and allowing just four hits with six punchouts en route to her first win of the weekend.
The Razorbacks return to action on Friday for a three-game series against No. 17 Alabama. Coverage from Bogle Park begins at 6 p.m. on the SEC Network+.
