FORDYCE, Ark. — Fordyce's Mad Butcher grocery store, the site of a mass shooting that killed four people and wounded 10 others, is set to reopen on July 2.
The south Arkansas grocery store will "operate with limited hours until further notice." The Mad Butcher will open at 9 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.
"We will be reopening our doors beginning Tuesday, July 2nd at 9:00 AM," The Mad Butcher said on Facebook. "Initially, we will operate with limited hours until further notice. Our commitment to serving the Fordyce community remains strong as we continue to heal together."
The Mad Butcher is Fordyce's only grocery store. Without it, the closest grocery stores or supermarkets are located in neighboring cities, at least half an hour away.
Since the deadly shooting on June 21, Arkansans have come together to support the Fordyce community with food drives, mental health resources and other fundraisers.
Fordyce City Council member Roderick Rogers said it's been nice seeing neighbors helping each other through tough times.
"I just like to see how the community came together," Rogers said. "Something that was so tragic, we're seeing a little good out of it."
