FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Since the Arkansas basketball season ended, fans have speculated whether head coach Eric Musselman would return to the team after finishing a 16-17 overall record and 6-12 in the SEC.
On Thursday, Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek may have provided a glimpse into Musselman's future with the program, but it didn't come without poking fun at those speculators.
Yurachek posted an 18-second video to X, formerly known as Twitter. The footage shows Yurachek stumbling onto an empty bus before showing Musselman adjusting the rearview mirror.
"Buckle up!' Musselman shouted toward Yuracheck.
With a surprised expression, the athletic director leaned forward and responded, "Wait, you're still here?"
Despite no official confirmation that Musselman is staying with the program, the fanbase received the video well and responded to the jokes with laughs and excitement.
The Razorbacks are looking to move past their first losing season since 2010. This year also marked the first time Musselman has finished with a record under .500 in his nine-year college coaching career.
In his five seasons at Arkansas, Musselman has led the program to a 111-59 record with three Sweet 16 and two Elite Eight appearances. Additionally, he helped the Razorbacks land the nation's No. 5 recruiting class for the 2020-21 season and the consensus No. 2 recruiting class for the 2022-23 season.
After the Razorbacks' season-ending loss to South Carolina in the second round of the SEC Tournament, many speculated that Musselman would leave the team to join SMU or USC.
On Wednesday, On3Sports reported that SMU is expected to hire Andy Enfield, previously the USC head coach.
